Satu Mare Municipality represents an important connection between European Union and the Eastern block countries by its specific, neighbouring two countries: Hungary and Ukraine. This geographical location represents an advantage but also a commitment to pay attention to environmental factors, to keep our environment intact, to sustain the development process offering a continual ecological education to the new generation.

These intentions are not simple statements. We have always cared about the need of preserving the air quality. Thus, we have acted and we are going to act in a few different manners such as: the development and maintenance of green places, the setup of non-polluting investments, the upgrading of water treatment, the selective waste recycling, the development of urban infrastructure and traffic decongestion in order to improve the air quality in residential areas by means of redirection of heavy traffic toward the outskirts, etc.

Considering that one of the most important steps in the planet’s biodiversity preservation, of the environment will be fulfilled by the next generation ecological education, of the youth’s ethical, moral, civics to keep the environment intact for generations to come.

The Ecological Education and Air Quality Monitoring Complex will offer the necessary support for these educational activities, will stimulate next generation’s awareness to pay more attention to the environment, as the quality of life will depend on them, in the Municipality and Cross-Border Region thus Satu Mare will become a pilot town thanks to this institution.
